All of the other AVA’s in Washington State are sub-AVA’s of the Columbia Valley AVA. The Puget Sound AVA basically covers the Interstate-5 corridor from the Canadian Border to the Lewis County Line south of Olympia. Its western border is Port Angeles and its eastern border runs through the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. This AVA is in a much cooler climate that the AVA’s in Eastern Washington and most of the wineries in this area use grapes grown in Eastern Washington. However, there are several Estate Wineries in the AVA that use grapes grown in the Puget Sound AVA.
