Neighborhood Areas

We have divided Seattle up into 36 Areas. We don’t call them neighborhoods because they don’t follow the neighborhoods set by the City of Seattle. Although our main criteria for the Areas is mapping, we tried to follow the traditional neighborhoods of Seattle as much as possible. However, you will find two and even three traditional neighborhoods in some of our areas.

The Villages that make up Seattle

Many if not most of the areas we have designed in Seattle are like a Village with residential areas and a commercial area that serves those residential areas. Most of these local area commercial center were born in a era when people were not a mobile as we are today and fell to ruin in the sixties, seventies, and eighties. Today many of these areas have rebounded with great restaurants and shops.

Maps for you to print

We make our own maps for this site and soon found that a large metropolitan city like Seattle was a mapping nightmare for 8½ by 11 format. However, most of our users are limited to 8½” x 11” print format. Breaking the city up into areas is the answer to mapping and Seattle is a natural. For now we have the downtown and a few neighborhoods in detailed maps and Area Pages. There will be more coming online over the next few months.
