Exit 176 – NE 175th – to Aurora Ave and the Shoreline Area

There are no facilities at this exit however there are numerous facilities 1 mi. to the west on Aurora Avenue which is Highway 99.

 

Exit 175 – NW 145th / WA 523 / 5th Ave. NE – No facilities at exit (restaurants 1 mi. west on Aurora)

Exit 174 – NE 130th / Roosevelt Way – No Facilities at exit (restaurants & motel 1 mi. west on Aurora)

Exit 173 – 1st Ave. NE / Northgate Way – Northgate Mall

Northgate Mall, a regional shopping center, is located here.  It is surrounded by other numerous shopping opportunities.

 

Exit 172 – N 85th / Aurora Ave – No Tourist facilities at exit

Exit 171 – Lake City Way / Bothell / WA 522 – No tourist facilities at exit.

Exit 170 – Ravenna Blvd. – Fuel

Exit 169 – NE 45th / NE 50th – University of Washington campus / Seattle Pacific University / HOSPITAL / Lodging

 

The Space Needle from the Ship Canal BridgeYou will go over the ship canal bridge south of exit 169.  To the west you will see Lake Union, which is surrounded by the north end of downtown Seattle.  You will travel over the ship canal, that connects Lake Union with Lake Washington, the largest lake in the State of Washington.  Ocean going vessels can access the lake via the locks into Lake Union and the ship canal between Lake Union and Lake Washington.  On nice summer days the lake seems almost full of pleasure yachts.  There are many residential house boats located on this lake.

 

To the Southwest from the bridge you will see Seattle’s famous Space Needle and south of that you will see the Seattle Skyline.  The tallest skyscraper is the Columbia Center.

 

Exit 168b – WA 520 to Bellevue via the new floating bridge.(Southbound this exits from the left lane / northbound from right lane)

Exit 168a – Lakeview Blvd – No tourist facilities at exit

 

Downtown Seattle – has a population of over 500,000 and an elevation of 510 feet above sea level.
South of the Mercer Street exit the highway goes under the Washington State Convention Center.  The exits from Mercer Street to Spokane Street all lead to different areas of Downtown Seattle.

Exit 167 – Downtown Seattle / Mercer Street (Exits from the left lane northbound) – This is the main exit to Seattle Center and the Space Needle.

Exit 166 – Downtown Seattle / Olive Way / Stewart Street – HOSPITAL

Exit 165b – Downtown Seattle / Union Street – No facilities at exit

Exit 165a – Downtown Seattle / Seneca Street (exits from left lane northbound)  HOSPITAL

Exit 164b – Downtown Seattle / 4th Avenue / Ferries – Washington State Ferries to Bremerton, Winslow, and Bainbridge Island

 

This is the beginning and the ending point of our “Great Western Circle” Tour.  The tour begins by heading south on Interstate-5 from here. 

Exit 164a – Interstate 90 Eastbound to Bellevue and Issaquah.  There are no facilities at this exit and no return to Interstate 5. 

 

Exit 163 – 6th Ave. / Spokane Street to West Seattle – No facilities at exit however exit 1 mile west on 4th Ave. for food and fuel.

This exit takes you to the West Seattle Freeway to West Seattle.  Alki Point at the north end of West Seattle is an exciting tourist area with beaches and walking paths along the shore.  From Alki Point you can look across Elliot Bay at the downtown Seattle skyline and to the north and west the view is out over Puget Sound.

 

On the west side of West Seattle lays Lincoln Park.  South of Lincoln Park is the Fauntleroy Ferry terminal with ferries to Vashon Island and Southworth on the Kitsap Peninsula.

 

Exit 162 – Courson Ave / Michigan St. (exits from left lane northbound) – No tourist facilities at exit

Exit 161 – Swift Avenue – No tourist facilities at exit

Exit 158 – Pacific Highway South / E. Marginal Way – Hospital / food / lodging

Exit 157 – Martin Luther King Way – No tourist facilities at exit

Exit 156 – Tukwila / WA 539 – fuel, food, and lodging

 

SeaTac Airport – SeaTac International Airport lies west of the freeway.  There are many hotels, motels, and restaurants on International Avenue (Highway 99 South) in this area.  It parallels Interstate 5 approximately 1 mi. west of the freeway.

Exit 154b – WA 518 to Burien / SeaTac Airport – South Center Mall / fuel, food, and lodging

Exit 154a – Interstate 405 to Renton and Bellevue – no facilities and no return to I-5.

 

The City of SeaTac – list to the west with SeaTac Mall along with many other tourist facilities. 

Orilla Road heads east down into the Kent Valley from Exit 152. 

Exit 152 – 188th / Orillia Rd. – SeaTac Mall is located off this exit.  There is fuel, food, and lodging west of this exit.

Exit151 – 200th / Military Road – Fuel, Food, and Lodging west of the exit in the SeaTac Airport Area.

 

The City of Kent – lies in the valley to the east of this exit. 

The City of Des Moines – lies west of the exit.  In recent years this area has experienced a great deal of commercial growth.

Exit 149 – Kent / Des Moines / WA 516 – A lot of fuel, food, and lodging in this area

Exit 147 – 272nd Street – No facilities at the exit but 1 mi. west at Pacific Highway there is gas, food, and lodging.

 

The City of Federal Way – has a population of over 70,000

Exit 143 – Federal Way – Regional Mall – Fuel, food, and lodging in the area.

 

 

Exit 142 – 348th /WA 18 – Enchanted Parkway children’s fun park lies east and to the west is of fuel, food, and lodging.

 

The King County / Pierce County Line
