north end of Lake
Sammamish.

lies at the east end of WA-520, which crosses over Lake
Washington on a floating bridge. Redmond is

History
In 1871 Luke McRedmond and Warren Perrigo
came to the Sammamish
Valley to homestead.
Mc Redmond took up land along the Sammamish River
and started creating a village which he originally named Salmonburg after the surplus of salmon in the river.
After becoming postmaster in 1882 he officially changed the name to Redmond. Perrigo claimed land east of McRedmond’s
property and built a house that doubled as an Inn.
Melrose House, named after his hometown in Massachusetts, was popular with early
travelers and pioneers scouting land claims.
