Lake Forest Park, Washington shares its borders with Seattle to the south, Shoreline to the west and Kenmore to the east so the city has nowhere to grow.

Lake Forest Park is located on the northwest shore of Lake Washington just north of the Seattle City Limit. It is lemon yellow on the map to the left.

A Little History

Lake Forest Park was originally the site where the Snohomish Tribe set up their winter village. Early pioneers found a small group of houses that remained inhabited by the tribe until 1903. As settlers and loggers came to the area, the tribe moved away. In 1909 Ole Hanson developed the Lake Forest Park area, focusing on preserving the natural surroundings. He advertised the development in Seattle newspapers and national magazines attracting people the natural beauty of this residential park just outside the city. Even today the city preserves the park like environment; only a small percentage of the land is designated as commercial land.
