A map of Seattle Metro is loading......

All four of these cities are located northeast of Bellevue, WA along the eastern shore of Lake Washington near the SR-520 (WA-520 on this site) floating bridge.

Clyde Hill is the only city of the four cities that doesn’t have waterfront.  Although the cities are not part of Bellevue they seem like exclusive neighborhoods along Lake Washington rather than cities from the visitors point of view.

In the map to the left, all four cities lie west of I-405 above and to the left of the “B” in Bellevue.

Clyde Hill

Clyde Hill, WA is a small exclusive bedroom community in King County, northwest of downtown Bellevue.  In the map to the Clyde Hill lies to the left and above the “B” in Bellevue, about in the middle of the Seattle Metropolitan area on the east side of Lake Washington.

Clyde Hill has a population of nearly 3,000.  The total area of the city is 632 acres.  The city has less than one acre (.73) of commercial area  Although it is factually an incorporated city when you drive through the area it feels like a  neighborhood of Bellevue.  The City of Clyde Hill was incorporated in 1953.  Only 12 acres of Clyde Hill are vacant and it is surrounded by other cities so the city has no growth potential.

The only commercial establishments in Clyde Hill are a gas station and Tully’s coffee.

Clyde Hill is surrounded by the cities of Bellevue, Medina, Hunts Point, Yarrow Point, and Kirkland.

The City of Medina

The Medina, WA area was first known to the pioneers who homesteaded the area as the Three Points area.  In 1891 the first dock was built and this dock was used by ferries and row boats to take people who lived in the area to Seattle to work.  Read more about Medina’s history on the city’s history page

Visit the History of Medina page.

The city incorporated on April 13, 1970.  Visit the city’s web page.

The City of Hunts Point

Historically the Sammamish Indians used Hunts Point as a summer campground.  The area was homesteaded in the mid 1800’s and in the early 1870’s it was acquired by Leigh S.J. Hunt who lived on Yarrow point.  He named the point after himself.

Hunts Point was later acquired by a group of Seattle businessmen who used the point as a summer camp.  Over time they built cabins in the area and then a community club.  Over the years life in Hunts Point revolved around the community club.

Read more about Hunts Point history on the city’s history page.

Hunts Point was incorporated in 1955.  For more information visit the city’s web page.

The Town of Yarrow Point

The Town of Yarrow Point is located on a peninsula that juts into Lake Washington northeast of Bellevue, WA.  This town is totally residential.

Visit the city’s web site.

The Wetherill Nature Preserve

In 1989 sixteen acres were donated to the towns of Yarrow Point and Hunts Point to protect the land from development and to preserve its wildlife and native plants.

The Wetherill Nature Preserve is located between Hunts and Yarrow Points and can be entered from a path leading from NE 33rd Street on Yarrow Point and from the Town Hall and Fairweather Park on Hunt’s Point.  Open all year during daylight hours.
