History
In
1873, twenty-one year old Mike Kelly, along with his wife and baby became
the first settlers to come to Burien. After hiking through dense forest,
they chose an open sunny area to build their cabin and named the area
Sunnydale. By 1887 other settlers had followed and Sunnydale school was
opened. In 1880 the Von Boorian family settled here and founded the town of
Burien.
