Burien, Washington is located on Puget Sound west of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.  To get to Burien take Interstate-5 Exit 154 (SeaTac Airport Exit).  The exit takes you onto WA-518 to Burien and SeaTac Airport. Get in the “Burien” lanes about 1 mi. west of the exit.  WA-518 ends in Burien.

The 2004 population of Burien was just over 31,000.  It has been voted one of the best places to live in the area.

History

In 1873, twenty-one year old Mike Kelly, along with his wife and baby became the first settlers to come to Burien. After hiking through dense forest, they chose an open sunny area to build their cabin and named the area Sunnydale. By 1887 other settlers had followed and Sunnydale school was opened. In 1880 the Von Boorian family settled here and founded the town of Burien.

Seahurst Shopping District

This piece of Old Burien offers a quaint shopping experience. Trendy little boutiques and antique stores remind visitors and residents alike of the good ol’ days.

Ed Munro Seahurst Park

This beautiful park offers nearly one mile of shoreline. There are several trails that lead through the 185 acres of thick forest sloping down to the beach. It is a popular place on warm and sunny summer days, but is relatively quiet the rest of the year.
