Where is Greenwood

and Phinney Ridge?

Green Lake is most easily found by taking Interstate-5 Exit 172 and turning west on N 85th Street.  This is Greenwood’s northern boundary.  In 0.7-mi. you come to Aurora, the neighborhood’s northeastern corner.

If you continue straight to 85th and Greenwood Avenue you will be at the heart of the neighborhood.

If you travel 0.7-mi. south (turn left) on Aurora you will come to Green Lake Park on your left and on your right will be Woodland Park Zoo a major component of the neighborhood and one of the most visited attractions in Seattle.

Mainly residential with a vibrant commercial area.

This area is mostly a quiet residential area that includes the neighborhoods of Greenwood and Phinney Ridge.

The communities of Phinney Ridge and Greenwood have over lapping commercial districts and they frequently join together in planning community events. We have combined the two neighborhoods on our website for easier navigation.

Greenwood is one of the older communities of Seattle that was annexed in 1954. The intersection of North 85th Street and Greenwood Avenue is considered the heart of the neighborhood and frequently displays banners celebrating local events.

This community hosts several annual affairs including the Greenwood/Phinney Artwalk held along Greenwood Avenue for over ten years, the Greenwood Classic Car & Rod Show and a Winter Festival and Crafts Fair.

Woodland Park Zoo

The Woodland Park Zoo, one of the most popular attractions in Seattle is located in the Greenwood area. This 92-acre zoo is one of the first in the nation to house animals in settings mimicking the animal’s natural habitats instead of cages. The naturalistic exhibits represent many of the world’s ecosystems such as the African Savanna, Tropical Asia, The Northern Trail, Temperate Forests and Tropical Rain Forests. Woodland Park Zoo houses over 300 animal species including elephants, hippopotamuses, monkeys, zebras, giraffes and jaguars.
