Lake Tahoe Area

Stateline, NV is in Douglas County, Nevada, USA

Lake Tahoe from Echo Summit

There are many attractions in this area.  The most famous is the Casino scene at Stateline.  However, don’t be fooled by the casinos, this area also offers water sports, beaches, balloon rides, sternwheeler rides, water skiing, camping, RV Parks, cabins, resort hotels, great dining, and more.  And, if that is not enough it offers skiing, cross country, and snowmobile riding in the winter.

There are two main entrances to the Lake Tahoe area.

Interstate 80 to North Lake Tahoe - The first is from Interstate 80 east of Sacramento, CA two hours east to Truckee, CA and then south on CA267 for 13 miles to the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.  It is then a 30 mile trip down the east side of the lake through Incline Village, NV to Stateline, NV.  This route represents the best roads to travel on but not necessarily the most scenic with the most activities along the way.

The Scenic Route – US Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe begins at Interstate 80 Exit 79 in West Sacramento, CA.  This route takes you to Placerville then over Echo summit to the valley that contains Lake Tahoe.

The City of South Lake Tahoe, CA

As you approach Stateline, NV from California on US 50 you first enter the City of South Lake Tahoe, CA.  This city has become the restaurant, resort, hotel, and motel center for the area around the south end of the lake.  Immediately adjacent to the casinos at Stateline it is a convenient place to center your operations for family activities.

Casinos at the Nevada State Line

The City of Stateline, NV

There is no missing the start of the City of Stateline when headed into town from South Lake Tahoe, CA.  At State Line Street the tall casino buildings begin. In these buildings it is hard to tell if it is day or night outside because the atmosphere in the casinos is the same day and night and they have no windows.
