This area of Interstate-5 begins at Interstate-5 mile post 54 between Grants Pass and Medford, Oregon.

Interstate-5 runs along the Rogue River in this area between Grants Pass and Medford.  At Medford Interstate-5 leaves the Rogue and heads across the Rogue Valley for the Siskiyou Mountains.

Siskiyou Pass

If you are traveling in the winter the 4,310 foot Siskiyou Pass is a concern.  Often it is closed or has chains required.  If you are not used to driving mountain passes or do not have chains stop in Ashland and get a traffic report.  We suggest you never drive the pass late in the day or at night.  Driving a snow covered mountain pass is difficult in the day and dangerous in the night if you are not accustomed to it.
