Where is Toledo, Oregon?

A little bit about Toledo, Oregon

Toledo is located on a bend in the Yaquina River about seven miles east of where the river enters the Pacific Ocean.  The City is surrounded by the foothills of the Coastal Mountain Range which are covered by forests of Douglas Fir.

Toledo has the unique quality of being the only inland coastal community with a deep water channel accessible from the Pacific Ocean.  Historically, Toledo was a lumber mill town harvesting logs from the surrounding hills, milling the lumber and shipping the lumber to world markets.

Today the lumber milling industry is gone and Toledo is known for its world class skate park, antiques, and a thriving artist community and interesting historic downtown shopping area specializing in locally handcrafted gifts

One of Toledo’s biggest draws is that when it is foggy or the wind is blowing on the ocean beaches it is usually warm in the valley where Toledo is located.  It is always warmer in Toledo.  Toledo is one of the few inland communities that has an active working waterfront and the end of Main Street, the main street in downtown Toledo.
