Sweet Home is in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in central western Oregon. Sweet Home is on US Highway-20 a gateway to the Cascade Mountains and eastern Oregon.

Where is Sweet Home?

Sweet Home is most easily found by taking Interstate-5 south from Portland, Oregon for 67 miles to I-5 Exit 233. Exit to US Highway-20 and head east to Lebanon and Sweet Home. Is 27 miles to the east on US-20.

Sweet Home is 30 miles from Albany, Oregon and 90 miles from the Pacific Ocean Beaches. Sweet Home is also 72 miles from Sisters, OR via a trip through the Cascade Mountains.

A little about Sweet Home

US Highway-20 is the gateway to Central Oregon over the Cascade Mountains via Santiam Pass. The highway will take you through Sisters, Oregon and then on to Bend.

The area east of Sweet Home is a winter wonderland full of winter recreation activities. In the summer you will find opportunities to hike, camp, canoe, fish, and hunt.

Sweet Home was a small, quiet town in the foothills of the Cascades until the timber boom during World War II. The timber industry was strong here until the environmental movement of the 1990’s. Since then the Federal restrictions on logging has all but closed down the industry.

Sweet Home is known as the Gateway to the Santiam Playground. There are two reservoirs in the area, Foster Reservoir and Green Peter Reservoir along with the Santiam and Calapooia Rivers that offer abundant recreational activities. There are many county, state, and federal parks in the area.
