Where is NE Portland
Northeast Portland is the area
to the east of the Willamette River and north of Burnside Street, except
that area immediately to the east of Portland International Airport.
We call the area in NE
Portland that is along the Columbia River just east of the airport the
Portland Airport Area as most of the hotels, motels, and restaurants in the
area serve people using the airport.

Neighborhoods
NE Portland is full of historic homes built in the early
1900’s. The Historic Piedmont and
Irvington districts are in this area and in recent years they have
undergone a great deal of restoration.
NE Portland has a wide variety of restaurants, shopping, and
residential areas.

|
The Historic Irvington district
This district
has received the most attention when it comes to renovation. There are many grand historic homes in
this area and the streets are lined with huge trees. Many of the other areas in NE Portland are going through similar renovations
because of their close proximity to the downtown area.

The Streets
of NE Portland
Burnside
runs east and west across the north end of downtown Portland.
If you go over the Willamette
River on the Burnside
Bridge you will find that Burnside
runs all the way east to the City of Gresham. It is the southern boundary of NE Portland.
Eleven
blocks east of the bridge NE
Sandy Blvd. takes off at a 45° angle to the
northeast running through NE Portland, all
the way to the airport area before turning eastward.
|
|
Broadway
Fifteen
blocks north of Burnside is Broadway. Broadway
runs east and west through NE Portland just north of Lloyd Center. Broadway
Street is loaded with a variety of shops and
restaurants, Including Lloyd Center a regional downtown mall.

|
|
|
Attractions
NE Portland is full of attractions including Lloyd Center an indoor regional shopping
center. Our guess is that this is
the second largest shopping mall in Oregon State.
Also located here is the Oregon Convention
Center, The Memorial Coliseum, and The Rose
Garden Arena.

Grant Park
Beverly Clary Sculpture
Garden
NE 33rd Ave & US
Grant Place
This is a great place for kids
to play and look at the statues of Romona Quimby, Henry Higgins, and
Henry’s dog. The statues are a
celebration of the work done by Clary in her children’s books.
