Getting to Lincoln City
Lincoln City is about 97 miles south of Astoria, OR and Washington
State on US Highway-101 and the trip takes about 2˝ hours on average
depending on traffic.
Lincoln City is about 85 miles from Portland via
US-99West and OR Highway-18 through the Coastal Mountain Range and the trip
takes nearly 2 hours.
Lincoln City is about 255 miles north of the California
State Line and the trip takes about almost 7 hours on US-101.
Some History
Lincoln City is relatively new. It was incorporated in 1965. The Incorporation was a merging of five
communities; Oceanlake, Delake,, Taft, Cutler City, and Nelscott. These districts can still be identified
by the names of businesses. The placement of business and business
districts reflects the city’s history.
Settlement in the area really began when Congress passed
the Dawes Act in 1887 allowing settlement on reservation lands. The five communities that made up Lincoln
City came into being in the early 1900’s.

Points of Interest
One interesting
note is that the 45th Parallel, the mid-point between the
equator and the North Pole goes right through the golf course north of
town.
One of the most impressive additions to the town
is the Chinook Winds Casino located in the north end of Lincoln City west
of US-101.
The Locals boast that there are more oceanfront
rooms in Lincoln City than any other city on Oregon’s coast.
