Sherwood, Oregon South of Portland, Oregon

Click on the map for a larger version	Sherwood lies south of Portland and just west of Interstate-5 Exit 289. As a landmark on the map to the left it is just west of the junction with I-5 and I-205 south of Portland. As with many of today’s cities, it has a historic downtown area with quaint shops and narrow streets and a newer area with strip malls and large parking lots. We suggest you visit both areas.
When you take I-5 Exit 289 you will exit onto the Tualatin-Sherwood Road to the west. The new city is 4.5 miles down this road at its junction with Highway 99W. This new shopping area contains several strip malls. We found several restaurants in this area but no lodging.	One of the strip malls in the new area of Sherwood
The Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center. There is a handicapped ramp to the left at the back of the building.	At about 3.5 miles down the Tualatin-Sherwood Road you will encounter a sign “To Historic Downtown Sherwood.” If you turn left onto Oregon Street it will take you into the historic downtown area. The local Chamber also has a Visitor’s Center inside and we suggest you visit them for local information. Again, our experience was that we found several eating establishments downtown but no lodging.
Sherwood, along with most of the cities south of Portland, seems to be in a period of change. There is a lot of residential growth in the area which drives commercial growth. We saw new building projects not only in the new areas but in the historic downtown area.	With its many trees, the historic downtown neighborhood is a warm and friendly place.

McMenamins owns a lot of Pubs and several Hotels/Resorts. McMenamins Sherwood offered the first outdoor dining in Sherwood, its Scottish Frog-inspired interior has faithfully served as neighborhood pub. Inside all of their places artwork abounds and cozy booths and long, family-style tables invite folks of all ages to enjoy great conversation over a hearty meal. Non-smoking establishment. Open 11am to midnight, Thu, Fri, Sat. ‘til 1am, Sunday noon to midnight.
