McMinnville has a population of nearly 30,000 and an elevation of 157 feet above sea level.  The city is located southwest of Portland.

The area around McMinnville is a wine growing area with microclimates similar to those in France and Germany.

In the map at the left McMinnville is just southwest of Portland about at the left bottom corner of the map on OR-99W north of its junction with OR-18.

McMinnville is located in Yamhill County.  The area is blessed with a moderate and long growing season well suited for grapes such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and White Riesling.

There are 50 wineries and about 120 vineyards in Yamhill County.  No other county in Oregon can boast about so many wineries.

Many of the wineries have tasting rooms and many of those are on hillsides with a view of the vines and the valley below.  We highly recommend you make time to visit a few wineries.

Shopping

McMinnville’s historic Downtown has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  There are fine restaurants, antiques, art galleries, and more in this truly “Northwest” downtown area.

You may also want to visit the new Outlet Mall located just outside of the city, they have 24 brand name stores with more to come.

The Spruce Goose

McMinnville is home to the HK-1 Flying Boat.  This airplane built by Howard Hughes in the 1940’s during World War II is better known as “The Spruce Goose”. It has a wingspan of 320 feet and is the largest wood-framed aircraft ever built. The museum features almost 40 historic aircraft  Visit their web site at:
