northwest Oregon State. Portland, OR
is located in northwest Oregon. It
is clearly the largest tourist attraction in Oregon. The second largest attraction in Oregon
is Oregon’s Pacific Coast and its ocean beaches.
This region of Oregon State
offers tourists a wealth of facilities and things to do. You will enjoy your visit here.
Sub-Regions of Northwest Oregon
For clarity we have broken
northwest Oregon down into four sub-regions as you can see on the map at
the left. Our northwest sub-regions are;
Portland Metro, Central Western Oregon, The North Coast, and the Central
Coast.
Portland Metro
Our Portland Metro sub-region
is the area which includes the Greater Portland area from Mt. Hood west to
the coastal mountains and from the Columbia River to just north of Salem.

Central Western Oregon
Our Central Western Oregon sub-region is made up of the
southern end of the Willamette River Valley. This valley lies west of the Cascade
Mountains and east of the Coastal Mountain Range.
Interstate-5 goes down the Willamette Valley and the cities
of Salem, Albany, Corvallis, and Eugene are in this area. Salem is the
State Capital.

North Coast
The North Coast area of Oregon
runs down the Pacific Coast from the Columbia River to the Tillimook /
Lincoln County Line sout of Tillamook and north of Lincoln City.
The Cities of Astoria,
Warrenton, Gearhart, Seaside, Cannon Beach, Manzanita, Rockaway Beach,
Garibaldi, and Tillamook are on the North Coast. The North Coast is known
for its wide sandy beaches

The Central Coast
Oregon’s Central Coast
runs from the Lincoln County line north of Lincoln City south to the
Lane/Douglas County Line south of
Florence.
Much of the coast along
this section has rocky cliffs and beautiful scenery with a sandy beach here
and there.
The cities of Lincoln
City, Gleneden Beach, Toledo, Newport, Yachats, and Florence are located on
Oregon’s Central Coast.
