Visitor information about the City of Prosser, WA and the surrounding area.

 

The City of Prosser, WA is located in Benton County in southwest Washington State.  Benton County is in Washington’s Wine Country.  Benton County is shown in yellow and the rest of wine country is shown in red on the Washington State map to the left.

 

Prosser has been called the “Birthplace of the Washington Wine Industry.”  Wine is an important part of Prosser’s economy.

 

Prosser’s economy is agriculture.  The main crops grown in the area are apples, asparagus, cherries, corn, hops, wheat, and wine grapes.

Prosser is in the south Yakima Valley area 50 miles south of Yakima and 35 miles west of the Tri-Cities.  Prosser has a population approaching 5,000 people.

 

Prosser celebrates over 300 days of sunshine annually with a wide range of outdoor activities including boating, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting and of course wine tasting.

 

The Rattlesnake Hills AVA can be found north of Prosser and the Horse Haven Hills AVA is south of Prosser.

 

Prosser maintains that small town feeling but has major shopping opportunities only 35 miles to the east in the Tri-Cities.

Prosser is located on the Yakima River in about the middle of Benton County’s western border.  Prosser is the county seat of Benton County.  You will find Prosser at Interstate-82 Exit 82.
