Local Population
Two of the 10 largest cities are in the Spokane
Metropolitan Area; Spokane and Spokane Valley.
They are also the largest and second-largest cities on
the east side of the Cascade Mountains in Eastern Washington.
The City of Spokane Valley was incorporated in 2003 and
instantly became the State’s seventh largest city. Combined, Spokane and Spokane Valley have
a population of nearly 300,000
Spokane County has a population of 451,000 people. Our statistics come from the Washington

Spokane’s West Plain
If approaching Spokane County from the west on
Interstate-90 you will enter the County just before I-90 Exit 257. This area is Spokane’s West Plain
area. I-90 Exit 257 will take you to
WA-904 that goes to Cheney, WA the home of Eastern Washington University. Cheney has a population around 10,000
people. WA-904 then loops back to
I-90 at Exit 270.
Exit 264 leads to WA-902 that loops north to the City of
Medical Lake and then loops back to the freeway at I-90 Exit 272.

I-90
Exit 276 takes you to US Highway-2 that leads you west to Spokane
International Airport, Fairchild Air Force Base, and the City of Airway
Heights.
Spokane
I-90 Exit 279 takes you to US-195 south to Pullman and
Clarkston. You will find spectacular
bridges here for both the freeway and the railroads. I-90 Exit 280 will take you into West
Spokane.
North Spokane
I-90 Exit 281 takes you to US-2 north, US-395 north, and
downtown Spokane via Division Street.
Division Street takes you to North Spokane.

The next
exits, 282 and 283 will bring you into the east end of the downtown area.
City of Spokane Valley
I-90 Exits 284 thru 293 exit into the City of Spokane
Valley. Prior to 2003when the city
was incorporated, this area was
called “The Valley”.
Liberty Lake
Exit 296 takes you south to the City of Liberty
Lake. The City is to the south of
the freeway at the north end of Liberty Lake.
State Line
The last exit before the Washington / Idaho State Line
is Exit 299. There is a rest area at
this exit.
