This page covers US Highway-101 from Aberdeen, WA to the Washington State / Oregon State state line in the Columbia River.  US Highway-101 is the “Pacific Coast Highway”.  It travels from Olympia Washington northwest around the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic National Park the west to the Pacific coastal plain then south down the Pacific Coast of Washington, Oregon, and California to its southern end in Los Angeles, California.

Aberdeen is a city of around 17,000 is the largest city in Grays Harbor County.  It is the shopping and tourism center for the area.

Westbound Highways

Washington Highway 109 heads west from Aberdeen to Ocean Shores and the ocean beaches to the north. 

Washington Highway 105 heads south west from south of Aberdeen to Westport (see mile post 59 below)

 

Eastbound Highways

Washington Highway 12 heads east from Aberdeen to Interstate 5 at a junction just north of Centralia.

Washington Highway 8 heads east from Aberdeen to Interstate 5 at Olympia.

It is 17 miles from Aberdeen to Raymond

 

Mile Post 83

Intersection with WA Highway-105 to Westport and Grayland

 

WA-105 goes around the cranberry peninsula to the Cranberry Coast at the peninsula’s west end.  This loop is 48 miles full of tourist facilities which include two State Parks.

Clark’s Restaurant

8 miles south of the Junction with Highway 105 is Clark’s Restaurant.  This restaurant is a surprise in the wilderness.  You will miss a northwest experience if you don’t include a stop at this restaurant in your plans.  They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The dress is casual, the décor is northwest historic, and the menu is traditional northwest with food that is unique and wonderful.

Junction with WA-105 / Cranberry Penninsula

Junction with the southern end of Highway WA-105 which heads west out the Cranberry Peninsula on a loop along the Cranberry Coast to Grayland and Westport then back to highway 101 at Aberdeen.

Junction with Highway 103 – Long Beach Peninsula

This highway goes to Ilwaco, Long Beach, and Ocean Park all on the Long Beach Peninsula.  This peninsula has what is claimed to be the longest sandy beach in the world.  Our Long Beach Area page is coming soon.

 

The photo shows the gate to Fort Columbia State Park.  This park is a day use park on the only coastal defense site that is Photo of Fort Columbia Gatestill fully intact.  The base operated from 1896 to 1947.  This is a 593 acre park with 6,400 feet of beach on the Columbia River.

 

There is an interpretive center and an observation station.  There is no camping at this State Park but there are several historic buildings you can rent for vacations and for social events.
