Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Forks, Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Ocean Shores, Westport, and the northern ocean beach areas of Washington State.

 

The areas in white on the map we consider northwest Washington.  It is split into two areas by Puget Sound.  The area to the left is the Olympic Peninsula which is made up mostly of Olympic National Park which takes up the whole center of the peninsula. 

 

 

Interstate-5

There is one main highway in Northwest Washington State, it is Interstate-5  and in NW Washington it runs from the Canadian Border to Seattle, on its way south to Oregon and California.  Interstate-5 cuts right through the most populous areas of Washington State.

 

US Highway-101

US-101 begins in Olympia, heads north along Hood Canal then around the Olympic Peninsula and down the Washington Pacific Coast.  This 2-lane scenic Byway is a tourist’s dream with a wide variety of possibilities for adventure.  The highway encircles Olympic National Park.

 

 

US Highway 20

WA Highway 20 (WA-20), often called State Route 20 (SR-20), begins on the Olympic Peninsula at US-101 milepost 282, goes east to Port Townsend, crosses the sound by State Ferry to Whidbey Island, goes over a bridge at Deception Pass to the mainland, crosses over I-5 in the Burlington area, and, in the summer, goes over the Cascade Mountains to eastern Washington.  This pass is called the North Cross State Highway.  It is part of the North Cascades Scenic Byway Loop Cascade Loop
