Skagit county measures 20 miles wide on Interstate-5 (north to south) from Exit 240 near its north border to Exit 221 near its southern border.

 

Most if western Skagit County lies on the Skagit River delta.  Most of the trip across Skagit County is flat and level only going up hills at the north and south ends of the valley as you enter and leave the valley.

Chuckanut Drive / N. Burlington Exit – No fuel, State Patrol Office, City of Burlington, Bayview State Park, Larabee State Park, World Famous Chuckanut Drive to Bellingham with great views of the San Juan Islands.

Highway-20 / Anacortes / Burlington

This is the main entrance to the Burlington shopping area.  There is a mall, an outlet center, and many shopping centers.

Highway 20 West to Anacortes and Ferry to the San Juans, Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Coupeville, and the Ferry to Port Townsend.

 

 Highway 20 East to Sedro Woolley, Concrete, Diablo Dam, and the North Cross-State Highway (Closed in Winter).  Part of the North Cascades Scenic Byway Loop.

George Hopper Road Exit. – Auto Row to the West.  East one block to Burlington Blvd Two gas stations at intersection.  This is the south entrance to the Burlington shopping area.

College Way (N. Mt. Vernon) Exit. – North Mount Vernon’s shopping area, gas stations, car wash, motels.

Conway / Lake McMurry Exit – East one gas station, Highway 534 to Lake McMurray and Highway 9.  West to two gas stations, espresso, deli, small town of Conway,  Seaside town of LaConner.
