WA-Counties01-snohomish.jpgMonroe, Washington is a small town of over 14,000 people located in eastern Snohomish County in northwest Washington State.

In the map of Washington State to the left Snohomish County is shown in red.

Monroe is 17 miles east of Everett, Washington on US Highway-2 and 10 miles northest of Bothell on Highway WA-522.

Monroe was founded in the 1880’s when the Great Northern Railroad crossed the Cascade Mountains and came down the Skykomish River Valley.  The city had originally been located one mile east and the merchants moved to be close to the railroad station and the source of freight and customers.  The City incorporated in 1902.

Today Monroe is really the hub of eastern Snohomish County and the City and surrounding areas are experiencing accelerated growth.
