Everett, Washington Area

Everett, Washington is located on Puget Sound 28 miles north of Seattle.  Everett is located on a hill on a peninsula formed by the Snohomish River and Puget Sound.  Its terrain gives many of Everett’s neighborhoods views of  Puget Sound and Port Gardener.  Everett’s historic downtown lies at the base of this peninsula at the west end of a 2.3 mile viaduct of US Highway-2 across the Snohomish River Valley.  Interstate-5 cuts right through Everett on its way from the Canadian Border to Seattle and points south

Photo of waterfront is loading......Everett, WA began as a deep water port and lumber mill town.  In 1900 there were over 50 lumber mills in Everett.  Today there are still wood products mills located on the waterfront in Everett.  Most of Everett’s waterfront is taken up with industry, a naval base, boat moorage, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks.  Everett is the west coast terminal of BNSF’s northern trans-continental rail route so the railroad is a major factor along the south bank of the Snohomish River and along Puget Sound.

Today aviation plays a huge role in Everett’s economy.  The Boeing Company assembles its 747, 767, 777, and 787 here in the largest building in the world.
