Langley, WA is a city on Whidbey Island in northwest Washington. Langley has a population of around 1,000. However, the Langley post office services about 5,000. Whidbey Island is in the north end of the Puget Sound, an inland body of water that is connected to the Pacific Ocean by the 60 mile long Strait of Juan de Fuca. Whidbey Island’s west shore faces the Strait of Juan de Fuca with all its fury. Langley is on the calmer east side of the island 4.8 miles north of the ferry landing at Clinton on the south end of the island. When you drive into Langley your first impression is of a small community built at the top of a bluff facing Saratoga Passage. On the other side of Saratoga Passage lies Camano Island and beyond that the mainland with the white capped Cascade Mountains in the distance. The buildings of the east side of the road go right down the face of the bluff to the beach.
