The Community of Clinton is an unincorporated Village on Whidbey Island in northwest Washington. The actual village has a population of under 1,000 but the post office serves around 2,500 people. Whidbey Island is in Puget Sound, an inland body of water that is connected to the Pacific Ocean by the 60 mile long Strait of Juan de Fuca. Clinton hosts the Whidbey Island terminal of the Washington State Ferries Mukilteo / Clinton run that connects south Whidbey to the Everett area 30 miles north of Seattle. Mukilteo is just southwest of the City of Everett.
On the map to the right Whidbey Island is in the center of the map with WA-20 (in red) running half way down the island. Clinton is at the south end of the island. Clinton is at the south end of SR-525 (WA-525 on this site). The Clinton – Mukilteo Ferry is part of WA-525 which continues from Mukilteo to Interstate-5 Exit 182. Clinton lies on Port Susan Bay. This 12 mile log bay runs nearly the entire length of the island. On the other side of Port Susan is the mainland between Everett and Stanwood. This area is part of the I-5 Corridor and behind that is the Cascade Mountains some 35 miles to the east. At Clinton you will find that the “Island Life” prevails as a philosophy of living. Everything is a bit slower and more relaxed on the island. Seattle hustle and bustle might as well be a 1000 miles away. Sometimes it’s hard to believe Seattle is only about 30 miles away.
