Whatcom
County is in the northwest corner of
Washington State along the Canadian Border. Most of Whatcom
County lies in the Cascade
Mountains. The western
third of the county lies on a plain created by the Nooksack river and is
fertile farmland. Nearly all of the
population and all of the cities in Whatcom County
are located on this western plain. Whatcom County’s
western border is Puget Sound and Interstate-5 runs about 5-miles east of Puget Sound along most of its route from the Canadian
Border south.
The
largest city in Whatcom County is Bellingham
with a population in the neighborhood of 70,000. Other cities in Whatcom
County include Blaine,
Ferndale,
Lynden, Sumas, and Everson. This page
