Ferndale, WA is about 9 miles north of Bellingham in northwestern Washington. Ferndale is about 14 miles south of the US/Canada border and can be found at Interstate-5 Exit 263.

Ferndale was incorporated in 1907 and today has a population of around 11,000. Ferndale is a quiet community along the banks of the Nooksack River. In fact it is the last city the river travels through on its way from the slopes of Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay.

Ferndale’s downtown is really split in two by the Nooksack River. Near Interstat-5 the east end of the downtown has been build in the last few years. It is full of new buildings and new businesses while the west end, accessed by an underpass under the BNSF railway’s tracks and a bridge over the Nooksack River, is the historic downtown with quaint shops and restaurants.
