Taholah, WA is located at the mouth of the Quinault River where it empties into the Pacific Ocean.  The community is named after the Quinault Chief Taholah.  The community lies nearly in the middle of the Quinault Nations Pacific Ocean Beaches.

State Highway-109 (WA-109) runs north from the Ocean Shores area through the north shore communities along Washington’s northern Pacific Beaches and ends in the Community of Taholah.

Please note that the Tribal Beaches are closed to public use.  You must have permission of the Tribe to use the beaches. Check with Tribal Headquarters at the end of WA-109.  Guides can be hired to fish the Quinault River.

Taholah is the seat of government for the Quinault Indian Nation.  The reserve was formed in the treaty of 1855 which was signed by Governor Stevens.  The tribe is governed by an 11 member committee.  It operates under bylaws adopted in 1922.  Seven tribes make up the Quinault Indian Nation.

The reserve is 189,621 acres and it is located in both northwest Grays Harbor County and southwest Jefferson County in Washington State.

Today the Quinault Tribe is in transition moving more toward tourism as a form of income and giving less focus to its traditional fishing and lumber economy as the ability to generate income from those sources dwindles.
