Where is Moclips, WA Getting to Moclips From Some History This
area was the historic home of the Quinault Tribe. The first Europeans here were the Spanish
in 1775. In 1792 Captain Robert Gray
of The
Lewis and Clark Expedition on 1804 opened the flood gates on American
settlement into the northwest and in 1855 the Olympia Treaty was sign my
Chief Taholah forming the Quinault Indian
Reservation that lies just north of Moclips. American
settlement of the area began in the 1850’s. During the last half of the 19th
century the land was homesteaded. By
the turn of the century the economy was based on timber, fishing, razor
clams, and tourism. Around
1905 the Northern Pacific Railroad extended its line to Moclips
making it the farthest west terminus of a railroad in the
Moclips is only 18 miles from all of the tourist facilities at |
