We don’t know if the espresso stand was born in the northwest, or not, but we do know that Starbucks, Tully’s, Seattle’s Best and many other brands and trade names of coffee, coffee houses and espresso stands were born in Seattle, Portland, and other places in the northwest.

Northwesterners love their coffee. In the city we live in, Bellingham, WA, it seems there is at least one espresso stand on every important intersection.

Forgive us, we have accomplished very little of our goal concerning espresso stands and coffee houses. Keep watching, surely there is more to come.

Espresso stands and coffee houses come in every size and shape. As you can see from the montage above the only requirement when designing a coffee house or espresso stand is imagination. Often the varieties of coffee drinks you will find defies imagination.

The only thing the photo above has to do with espresso stands is that this is probably the only spot in Bellingham, WA that you can’t see one. The photo is of the pier in Waterfront Park on Bellingham Bay in Bellingham, WA. It was completed in 2006. It is a major link over the water that joins a trail along Bellingham’s waterfront from the Historic Downtown to the Historic Fairhaven District. I hear an espresso stand is on its way.
