The City of Vancouver Vancouver, BC is located in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. The City of Vancouver is located between the north arm of the Fraser River, English Bay, and Burrard Inlet which runs about 30 miles inland and offers Vancouver a very large inland harbor. Its western border is the Strait of Georgia and its eastern border is Burnaby and New Westminster. There is water, water everywhere in Vancouver. The Downtown Peninsula Vancouver, BC lies on a peninsula with the Fraser River and the Strait of Georgia to the south and west and English Bay and Burrard Inlet to the north. On another peninsula jogging to the north, off of the peninsula that Vancouver is located on, lies downtown Vancouver. This peninsula is between English Bay and Burrard Inlet. On the map it is easily identified by the green area that signifies Stanley Park which takes up the whole north end of the peninsula. The Lions Gate Bridge’s south end is in Stanley Park. Lodging in Vancouver, BC Vancouver is one of the most unique cities in the world. You can’t help but be impressed by the breathtaking views it offers. To the west are the Gulf Islands and behind them Vancouver Island with its coastal mountains. To the north are the snow capped coastal mountains. The population of Greater Vancouver is multicultural to say the least and Vancouver has the mildest climate in Canada. All of these attributes makes Vancouver a favorite place to visit and stay. With the high demand for accommodations and the high cost of real estate in this huge city, don’t expect economy lodging. Expect that this world class city will have world class prices at its downtown hotels. Our experience has been that the accommodations and service are worth the cost.
