Where is South Granville?

If you are entering Vancouver from the south on BC Highway-99 then you’re headed the right direction. North of the Vancouver Airport Exit you will cross the North Arm of the Fraser River on the Oak Street Bridge.

Approximately 3 blocks from the end of the bridge BC-99 turns left on 70^th Avenue, goes west for 7 blocks and then turns right onto Granville. Granville will take you all the way into downtown Vancouver.

From 70^th Avenue you will travel about 3.5 miles (5.6 Km) north on Granville up what seems like a very gently sloping hill. At 3.5 miles among some of the grand mansions of Vancouver you will crest over the top of the hill and start downhill. 16^th Avenue will be in front of you and this is the beginning of the South Granville district. From here to the Granville Street Bridge you are in South Granville.

The Crescent

If you turn right on 16^th Avenue and then keep to the right and go up a small hill you will find yourself at “The Crescent.” This small circular road has Shaughnessy park in the center and some of the most valuable residential real estate in Vancouver around the outside of the road. My guess is that these homes were built in the early 1900’s. If you are into Mansions then you will want to spend a few moments seeing this area.
